Waldorf is the birthplace of many iconic dishes, such as Benedict eggs, red velvet cake, and Waldorf salad. In honor of this extraordinary culinary tradition, the prestigious James Beard Foundation and Waldorf have teamed up again to host the "Taste of Waldorf" cooking competition, which aims to discover the next classic, timeless and unique Waldorf delicacy.

On February 23, the Waldorf Astoria New York was packed with guests and stars. Five innovative dishes created by Waldorf Astoria Orlando, Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem, Waldorf Astoria Beijing and Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria New Orleans were placed in front of the celebrity jury. The winner was the “Purple Jade Beijing Style Roll” created by Chef Benoit Chargy of Waldorf Astoria Beijing and James Beard Foundation “Rising Star” semifinalist Erik Bruner-Yang, and the dish will be featured on the menus of 25 Waldorf Astoria hotels around the world.
