Statue of Liberty

The statue was a gift from France to the United States in 1876 and is known as the symbol of the United States. The statue is dressed in ancient Greek style clothing, with a shining crown on its head. The seven spikes represent the seven continents of the world, and the right hand holds a 12-meter-long torch. It looks even more sacred under the lights at night.

Must-see tips

1. Statue Cruises tickets need to be booked several months in advance during the peak tourist season, so remember to print the e-ticket.

2. To prevent attacks, you will be inspected before boarding the ferry to the island. During the peak season, the waiting time may exceed 2 hours, so you need to arrange your travel time reasonably.

3. In case of weather conditions, the statue will be closed and the cruise will be cancelled. Please pay attention to the weather conditions when visiting.

4. Considering the angle between the boat position and the statue, it is recommended that you go there in the morning, as there will be backlighting problems in photography in the afternoon.

5. After getting ashore, you can go to the Audio Tour on the left to get a Chinese guided tour.

6. You can also get a certificate (electronic version) for viewing the statue on the island. Just register your family's name and email address, and the staff will send a PDF version of the certificate to your email address.

7. If you just want to see the statue from a distance, you can take the free round-trip ferry to Staten Island (The Staten Island Ferry). It is better to stand on the right channel of the ship on the way there. If you don’t want to stay after arriving at Staten Island, you can run with everyone to catch the ship back to Manhattan.
